If you are experiencing temporary hair loss through medical treatment, the New Zealand Government Hair Loss Subsidy contributes $408.89 towards head coverings of your choice. We have applied it to the prices below, so you can see exactly what you pay.

Who can claim

• The temporary hair loss subsidy is for medical hair loss, most often from chemotherapy or other scalp conditions
• Both men and women who are NZ citizens or ordinarily resident in NZ, are eligible
• It covers head covering of your choice to the value of $408.89.

Covered packs are for temporary medical hair loss. If your hair loss is permanent, a different subsidy applies — talk to us and we will point you the right way.

The four packs

The subsidy can cover any one choice of these options we have curated for you:

Standard Wig Pack — $50 + shipping

Everyday synthetic wig, plus care kit, stand, comb and cap.

Premium Wig Pack — $100 + shipping

Premium wig with a more natural hairline, plus care kit, stand, comb and cap.

Halo Pack — shipping only

A halo of hair worn under a hat or scarf, for a lighter, cooler option.

Headwear Pack — shipping only

Hats, turbans, scarves and sleep caps from the Hat Tricks range.

Prices include GST and have the $408.89 subsidy already applied. Shipping is charged separately and determined by your location. Orders are shipped once we have received your signed claim form, your hair loss certificate and your payment.

How it works

1. Ask your clinic

You need a certificate confirming temporary hair loss, and a claim form signed by you. Your clinic can help with both. If they cannot sign the form, we will sort it with you directly.

2. Choose your pack

Pick the pack that suits you and, if you want a wig, the style and colour. Send me a photo or book a consultation if you would like help deciding.

3. Send your documents

Upload your signed claim form and certificate, or ask your clinic to email them straight to us at sales@simplywigs.co.nz.

4. We ship it

Once we have your paperwork and payment, your pack goes out to you.

Am I eligible?

The subsidy is for temporary medical hair loss, most often from chemotherapy or other medical treatment. Men are eligible too. If you have permanent hair loss due to some autoimmune conditions, cranial radiotherapy or scalp surgery, then the permanent hair loss subsidy would apply to you. Contact us for more details.

What is the subsidy for temporary loss of hair worth?

$408.89 valid over 1 year. It goes towards head covering(s) of your choice.

Can I get a wig and headwear?

The $408.89 can be used on any type of head covering(s). You choose whichever suits you best: a wig, a halo and headwear, or headwear. Typically a wig on its own will exceed the value of the subsidy. This is the reason we have created Covered packs as a value-for-money option for you.

How much will I pay?

The subsidy is already applied to the prices shown. Standard Wig Pack $50 plus shipping, Premium Wig Pack $100 plus shipping, Halo Pack and Headwear Pack are shipping only. Shipping is charged separately and determined by your location.

What do I need to claim?

Two documents. A certificate confirming temporary hair loss signed by your doctor or clinic nurse, and a claim form signed by you. Your clinic usually supplies the certificate and may have a claim form to hand too. The claim form can be downloaded from the website or we can email one to you.

How do I send them?

What is in each pack?

Standard Wig Pack: an everyday synthetic wig, plus care kit, stand, comb and wig cap. Premium Wig Pack: a premium wig with the same extras. Halo Pack and Headwear Pack are made up from our halo and headwear ranges.

Can you help me choose a wig?

Yes. Send me a photo of yourself, or of the look you are after, and I will suggest the style and colour closest to it. You can also book an online consultation, or call to make a time.

How long does it take?

Wig and Halo Packs can take up to 2 weeks to dispatch, and are subject to availability with our suppliers. We will check this during the virtual consultation process. Headwear Packs are usually shipped within 48 hours of ordering.

Can I change my mind?

A Wig Pack can be exchanged for $360 or $400 worth of headwear, depending on whether you chose the standard or premium wig, plus the cost of shipping. The difference reflects restocking fees incurred. Halos and headwear have a limited exchange policy. All returns for exchange within 7 days of receipt. Full returns policy on our website.
