HOW TO CARE FOR MY HUMAN HAIR WIG

Human Hair Wig Care
For optimal results, we recommend you wash and style your human hair wig before wearing. Unlike synthetic hair wigs, human hair wigs are not necessarily "ready to wear out of the box".
Wash your wig every 2 weeks or so of wearing, or as required if wearing constantly or applying products.
Simply Wigs strongly recommends that you use the products made especially for wigs to protect your investment.
Just follow these steps using Jon Renau Argan Smooth Human Hair Care Collection products:

COMB/BRUSH

Before washing your human hair wig use a wide toothed comb or wig brush to gently remove any tangles, working gradually from ends to base.

WET
Wet wig under lukewarm running water – drape over the fist of one hand and let the water run over the wig from the base to the ends of the hair.

WASH
Squeeze a small amount of Jon Renau Argan Smooth Shampoo into the palm of your hand and massage through hair. Work in a downward motion from base to ends of hair, gently squeezing hair to help shampoo absorb into hair.
DO NOT RUB when washing, as this may cause knotting.
RINSE
Next, rinse thoroughly under cool running water from the base to the ends of the hair until the water runs clear ensuring the cap is also rinsed through well.

CONDITION
Apply Jon Renau Argan Smooth conditioner avoiding the base cap of the wig (applying conditioner to the base of the cap may weaken the knots and cause them to slip).
With your fingers work conditioner to the ends of the hair. Rinse out thoroughly as described above.
TREAT (optional)
As an optional extra use Jon Renau Argan Smooth Treatment Oil after conditioning. It soaks in quickly to produce glowing shine, elasticity and suppleness, strengthens, conditions and reduces drying time.

DRY
Wrap wig in a towel and pat gently to remove excess water. DO NOT RUB OR WRING.
Place wet wig on a folding wig stand, lightly fluff with fingers and leave to dry naturally.
Never place a wet wig on a mannequin or foam head, as this will stretch the cap.

STYLE
DO NOT BRUSH WIG WHILE WET.
Once dry your wig can be styled.
Use Jon Renau Heat Treat Thermal Styling Spray prior to using any hot tools.
Jon Renau Argan Smooth Treatment Oil can also be used on dry hair to smooth ends and prevent fly-aways.

Top Tips
  • NEVER USE HOT WATER
  • To minimise the frequency of washing your wig, keep your scalp and own hair clean and remove your wig when lying down even for a quick nap!
  • If using other human hair shampoo, ensure it is a good quality shampoo formulated for chemically processed hair e.g. coloured and permed hair. Jon Renau Argan Smooth Shampoo is Sulphate, Paraben & Sodium Chloride Free.
  • It is recommended that you do not colour or perm wigs or hairpieces, with the exception of Renau Naturals colour wigs which can safely be coloured or highlighted as they have not been subject to the same dye process used to achieve other colours.
  • Have 2 wigs - this way you will have one ready at hand when you are washing the other. Rotating between wigs will also help to extend the life.
Storing
Keep your wig on a wig stand between wearing to maintain its shape and style. Make sure it is in a clean, dry, dust-free environment, away from any heat source and out of direct sunlight.
Our folding wig stands are ideal for travelling. When packing a wig, turn it inside out and place it in a box to preserve the fibre and maintain shape.
